About this Place
Famous for its unique twin Shivlings representing Shiva and Parvati, on the banks of the Beas River.
Kathgarh Mahadev is near Indora on the Himachal side, roughly 20 to 25 km from Pathankot, close to where the Chhonchh stream meets the Beas. What makes it different is the Shivling: it's split into two parts, the taller one worshipped as Shiva and the shorter as Parvati. The belief is that the gap between the two changes with the movement of the planets and the seasons, and closes up around Shivratri.
The temple is set on open ground near the riverbank and is easy to reach by road. It's at its busiest on Maha Shivratri, when the Kathgarh mela takes place and people come from all over the area. On other days it's calm, and the river nearby is nice for a short walk. You can combine it with Nurpur Fort or a trip towards Pong Dam.
