About this Place
Cable-stayed bridge over the Ravi near Basohli, with long views over the reservoir.
Atal Setu is the cable-stayed bridge over the Ravi at Basohli, linking the Kathua side of Jammu & Kashmir with Punjab and Himachal. It's named after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and has cut a lot of travel time for people living on both sides of the river.
Most visitors come for the view. From the bridge you look out over the Ranjit Sagar reservoir and the hills on both sides, and around sunrise and sunset the water changes colour quite a bit. It's a popular stop for photos and reels, and you'll often see families stopping for a few minutes on the way to Basohli or Mini Goa. Traffic does use the bridge, so stay on the footpath and don't stop in the middle of the road for pictures. Drone flying here needs permission.
