About Harike Wetland
Harike Wetland formed after the Harike headworks were built at the confluence of the Beas and Sutlej in 1952. It was declared a Ramsar site in 1990 and is one of the most important wetlands in North India. Each winter tens of thousands of ducks, geese and waders arrive from Central Asia and Siberia. It is a calm, half-day trip for birders and photographers, best combined with a visit to Amritsar.
